Shares of Exxon Mobil outperformed international oil industry Zacks Integrated over the past year (+56.5% vs. +40.2%). The Zacks analyst believes major discoveries in the Stabroek Block have improved the outlook for ExxonMobil’s upstream business. Exxon recently made two new oil discoveries in the Stabroek block, which will add to its 10 billion barrels of oil equivalent of recoverable resources from the block.
XOM already has a strong presence in the prolific Permian Basin, where it continues to cut its fracking and drilling costs. Exxon Mobil has increased its fourth quarter 2021 dividend to 88 cents per share. To capitalize on the growing demand for clean energy, XOM is working to create more efficient fuels while reducing emissions.
sony shares have gained +15.4% over the past three months against audio-video production industry Zacks’ +14% gain. The Zacks analyst believes Sony benefited from increased sales in the Game & Network Services, Pictures, Music and Electronics Products & Solutions segments.
Sony’s long-term vision is to achieve a “zero environmental footprint” by 2050 for the entire life cycle of its products. It has incorporated several changes to the Group’s organization with the aim of energizing individual businesses and taking advantage of the diversity of its business portfolio. Escalating cost of goods sold and fluctuating exchange rates remain major concerns for Sony, however.
Shares of Estee Lauder have gained +6.6% over the last six months against a -19% loss for the Zacks Cosmetics industry. The Zacks analyst believes Estee Lauder has benefited from the momentum in its Skin Care business. A strong online presence is another major catalyst for Estee Lauder’s growth.
EL recorded net sales growth in every region and product category in the first quarter of fiscal 2022. Estée Lauder is also taking cost control measures. The company, however, experienced intermittent shutdowns in some markets during the first quarter, due to a spike in COVID cases. Restrictions on international travel have also affected consumer traffic in some places.

Bitcoin, like the internet itself, could change everything
Blockchain and cryptocurrency have sparked one of the most exciting topics of discussion of a generation. Some call it the “internet of money” and predict that it could change the way money works forever. If true, it could do to banks what Netflix did to Blockbuster and Amazon did to Sears. Experts agree that we are still in the early stages of this technology and as it develops, it will create several investment opportunities.
Zacks just revealed 3 companies that can help investors capitalize on the explosive profit potential of Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies with far less volatility than buying them outright.
