A 3-1 defeat at Borussia Mönchengladbach last friday saw stuttgart drop off at 16th place and the place of the relegation play-offs. The Swabians have only won twice all season but played both games at home under caretaker boss Michael Wimmer. Eleven points is the club’s third-worst start to a top-flight campaign, but it’s four more than bochum just below them. Waldemar Anton scored the winner in the 91st minute in the last outing at the Mercedes-Benz Arena against Augsburg and will re-anchor the defense. Hiroki Itō and Dan-Axel Zagadou both missed the Gladbach match with the flu, but the latter is expected to return. Josha Vagnoman is also refitted and could start right, freeing Silas playing alongside his fellow three-goal top scorer Serhou Guirassy in attack.

jovetic seemed to have reached some form before a hip problem ruled it out Herthait is 3-2 loss against Bayern Munich Saturday which ended the Berliners’ four-game unbeaten streak at home. Like Stuttgart, the Old Lady have also won just two games all season – and only one on the road – and have the same number of draws (five) and losses (six). It is only the fact that they have conceded four fewer goals that puts them above their opponents and outside the bottom three on goal difference. David Selke and Dodi Lukebakio got the consolation goals against Bayern and should be rewarded with starts again. Jean-Paul Boetius made his first start since recovering from testicular cancer, but is expected to make way. Companion Survivor Mark Richter may also fall to the bench as Sandro Schwarz freshens things up for this midweek round.

Look: Jovetic scored twice in a 2-2 in this game last season
