As we say goodbye to another year, it’s time to look back on our most memorable meals. Yelp data scientists researched Morris, Essex, Bergen, Hudson, Warren, Union, Sussex and Passaic counties and compiled this list of the 50 Best Places to Eat in North Jersey in 2021. Although all of them regions are represented, over a third of the list is made up of Bergen County restaurants!

Some restaurants have been staples for years while others are new to the scene. Twelve of the fifty companies mentioned just opened in 2021. Hot chicken was incredibly popular last year, and several places serve sizzling sandwiches.

North Jersey’s food scene is as diverse as it is delicious. From Burmese noodles to juicy burgers and dumplings of gyros soup, there’s no shortage of variety. There is something to satisfy all palettes as well as all budgets. Make a reservation on Yelp for an exclusive sushi-tasting experience at Sushi By Bou or grab a breakfast sandwich at Foodies Diner (that’s Jersey, after all). Whatever your preference, we can all agree that there has never been a better time to support local restaurants.
