The Newcastle United Blog | Newcastle vs Brighton – Team Prediction, Injuries & Fan Expectations

Here again is the squad I suspect Eddie Howe is naming for today’s game against Brighton. They are a side unchanged from the one that beat Brentford 2-0 last weekend.

Howe is unlikely to change things during such a positive run. He admitted this during his press conference yesterday. Magpies not currently on the team will likely have to wait at least another week.

That could include Allan Saint-Maximin, who faces a late fitness test. The winger will probably at least be on the bench, but with recent performances from Ryan Fraser and Jacob Murphy, there is no rush to include Allan in the starting XI just yet.

Newcastle still have three long-term injuries and Matt Ritchie is expected to return to training next week. Brighton will be without top centre-back Adam Webster.

Newcastle injuries

Callum Wilson (calf), Kieran Trippier (foot), Matt Ritchie (knee), Allan Saint-Maximin (calf – late fitness test)

Injuries in Brighton

Adam Webster (groin), Enock Mwepu (hamstrings), Adam Lallano (hamstrings – late fitness test), Jeremy Sarmiento (hamstrings – late fitness test)

Fans are very confident of a win with 75% expecting the guys to collect all three points today. Only 6% see the end of Newcastle’s unbeaten streak.

The Seagulls are on a three-game losing streak that they will be desperate to snap. With Newcastle just four points above the drop zone, it’s another monumental game for Howe and the lads.

A win could fill the bottom three cushion significantly ahead of our three away games next week. The crowd in St. James’ Park will be entirely behind the boys in what will be another electric atmosphere.
