Newcastle United Blog | Howe makes four changes to our Manchester City squad

This is the team I predict Eddie Howe will nominate for tomorrow’s game against Manchester City, should it go as Aston Villa v Burnley was postponed two hours before kick-off.

Howe pivoted the squad midweek, making three changes from Leicester City’s loss. Callum Wilson, Miguel Almiron and Joe Willock made way for Ryan Fraser, Jacob Murphy and Isaac Hayden who joined the team.

Tomorrow I suspect Howe will continue to turn while bringing back some of the players he has rested on the squad. Callum Wilson will likely return after an appearance against the Reds. Joelinton played deeper Thursday, but could team up with Wilson up at home.

Allan Saint-Maximin was taken out early and limped off the field on Thursday, so he could rest as he has started every game this season. Another player who may need a rest is Jonjo Shelvey. If that was the case, it would pave the way for Willock to return to the squad with Hayden keeping his place.

Miguel Almiron’s energy could be an asset tomorrow. So I see him coming back to the team with Fraser keeping his place on the left. With Newcastle stranded all night, Fraser and Murphy didn’t have much of a chance to impress on Thursday.

Howe will be forced to at least one change with Jamal Lewis’ injury. Matt Ritchie has replaced Lewis and will likely be left-back tomorrow. With few other options in defense; Manquillo, Schar and Lascelles will likely round out the last four again.
