Blog: Angels, dreams and miracles (2/10/21)

In my mind today, I was amazed by angels, miracles and dreams. Students, I’m currently super busy Sal le Gal. I am currently juggling this year’s run, a haunted trail, and sit on committees to bring good to our little corner of the world in addition to having two weekly Bible studies. [one virtually and one in person] and teach Wednesday evenings at church. I’m not telling you this to impress you, I’m telling you because think about what you could do with an ambulatory body. I totally understand that I have a chance to do as much good as I can for God on this Earth. I fully understand that we all live on borrowed time. Heaven truly awaits us if we only choose it. Have you made your choice ? Or are you hesitating? I think that is why I am writing this blog, my students.

Today is the feast of the guardian angels. This week was also a holy day for the angels Michael, Gabriel and Raphael. Do you believe in angels I hear a lot of people talking about angels. I have read a lot of books about people who see angels. Whether you choose to believe or not, each of us receives a Guardian Angel upon birth. This gives us a succession of miracles.

Have you ever had a time in your life when you escaped death? Miraculously, you came out unscathed. Thinking back on my life, oh, there were several times I should have suffered serious injuries but I came away unscathed. I remember one of my birthdays I had a terrible motorcycle accident with my brother. He only had cut blue jeans. He had stopped to wish me a happy birthday on one of the coolest motorcycles ever. I begged and begged my mom to let me go up to the freeway and back. I was on my back and I was about 11 years old. I don’t remember what prompted my brother to drop the bike onto the highway, but that’s what I do remember. I could still see how we were going slowly towards the sidewalk. My brother came over and grabbed me. He threw me in the middle. As all of this was happening while the traffic was completely blocked. Everything was frozen in time. I saw my brother’s body flying on the sidewalk. Remember he wasn’t wearing anything other than cut-off jeans. On one side of his body he had severe rashes on the road and horrible deep holes where some of the flesh had been torn off by the gravel. I set there in the grass and watched him get up bleeding and come and ask me if I was alright. I think I just shook my head yes. He straightened the motorbike and we got on it. He brought me home. This accident happened on the ring road which was only a few kilometers from my home. The birthday girl came back safe and sound, but my poor brother has had a long road to recovery. I am so sure that my brother and I guardian angels are always very busy and have been throughout our lives. Another time I was in a wreck and everything was going in slow motion while we were hydroplaning. I put my hands up and just started praying because I thought that was it. My friend, Big D, grabbed me and the wheel. I was panicked and she told me to take you back! We barely failed to roll the truck over an embankment that would surely have killed us. Guardian angels are real. I have had so many near death experiences. One of them, in fact the last, I write it in a book. I don’t think God is ready for me to leave Earth yet. I still have a lot of work to do. I want to live a life that speaks of the gospel of Jesus Christ. I know I’ll go to the other side someday. The closer I get, the less afraid I am.

And last but not least, let’s talk about dreams. I have some of the wildest dreams of all time. Ask my poor family. In one of the Bible studies we are talking about the book of Daniel. Talk about dreams! This guy was a Dreams performer. As we discussed all of these Bible mysteries, my mind became clearer. One of the ladies in our party had the covid. She wasn’t supposed to live. His family has been called several times. As she lay there on a vent for days and days, she had vivid dreams. She explained to us that she felt a battle. Something was trying to pull her to death and something was trying to bring her back to Earth. She had friends who came all the way from Alabama to tour the hospital in Jackson, Tennessee, to pray for her. She is a wonder. She also had vivid dreams that she is trying to figure out. Doctors told her that the medicine she was taking would not have caused such vivid dreams. My husband was also on a vent a few years ago. He didn’t remember anything. You see dreams are important. They have occurred throughout the ages of the Bible. There is something mysterious and so much bigger than us that is fighting for good every day. Have you already established a connection? Yes! The students in the front row, the angels, the miracles and the dreams are so intertwined. Good question in the last row! Yes, if there are angels, there are also demons. We must guard against the demons who also fight for evil to obey the orders of their god. Here is a good homework assignment for you during the fall vacation. Read CS Lewis’s Screwtape Letters. This is exactly what I imagine the devil and his demons are still trying to do today. These letters were written at a pivotal moment in history. I think we are students there again. Are we going to choose the right? Are we going to be the right ones? Are we going to give in to all our vices? It is so easy to give in to all your vices. It is not easy to say no. You must be strong. Join me and try to be the right one. There is a good fight and that’s it.
