Apple and NBA unveil limited-edition Powerbeats Pro

The National Basketball Association (NBA) has teamed up with Apple Beats, the league’s official headphone sponsor, and Better Gift Shop to launch the limited-edition Powerbeats Pro for its 75th anniversary season. (via Entry mag).

The NBA-themed headphones feature an abstract interpretation of the basketball league logo, hand-painted by artist Shay Semple, at the heart of their design.

Semple’s exclusive design and interpretation of the NBA logo also extends to the charging case, as well as the packaging. As for the headphones themselves, one sports the NBA logo while the other bears the Toronto-based Better Gift Shop logo, and both feature Beats branding on a cream-colored base.

To complete the NBA theme, interchangeable red and blue tips. Like the classic Powerbeats Pro released in 2019, these headphones are sweat- and water-resistant and equipped with silicone ear hooks for a snug and secure fit during high-intensity activity. Powerbeats Pro are powered by Apple’s H1 chip and offer 24-hour battery life.

“At Better, we strive to push boundaries and authenticate representation – and this collaboration does just that,” Better Gift Shop founder Avi Gold said in a press release.

“Working with artist Shay Semple, one of the first to incorporate hand-painted artwork onto a Beats charging case, made this even more special. From a young age, I grew up being inspired by so many subcultures, musical genres and watching NBA games, fueled by their energy, now it’s so surreal to see life come full circle.

The limited-edition Powerbeats Pro will launch on February 19 and can be purchased online at the NBA Store and in-store at the Betterâ„¢ Gift Shop, Dover Street Market and NOTRE outlets.

Each pair will be the same price as the regular Powerbeats Proat $250 in the United States. The base Powerbeats Pro retails for CAD $329.95 in Canada, but stay tuned for Canadian availability and pricing confirmation for the new limited-edition variant.
